The 2nd Annual Cheyenne Mountain Trail Race will be held at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, Colorado Springs on Saturday April 28, 2012. The prize purse has grown for 2012. We will be offering $300 for the 1st place male and female finishers, $200 for the 2nd place male and female finishers, and $100 for the 3rd place male and female finisher in both the 25K and 50K race.
Colorado's newest state park offers trail running through everything from open dirt trails through low scrub oak to wooded groves to dense rocky terrain, all in the shadow of NORAD and Cheyenne Mountain. The course is challenging, fast and always changing. Many sections of the route are nestled away out of sight of any sign of civilization making the run truly an enjoyable experience. Great opportunities for spectators to see you and cheer you on. Fully stocked aid stations will be positioned throughout.
The field is limited to prevent overcrowding on the trails and allow runners room to find their own pace. The course will also start on a section of road to help runners seed themselves prior to hitting the single track.
The course is a 25k loop, starting and finishing at the base of the park where brand new facilities are present for use before and after the race, including indoor restrooms and a playground for the kids. Carrabba's Italian Grill is catering the post race food-meal tickets are available for spectators-$5.00 per adult and $1.00 kids spaghetti plate.
Come be a part of an epic new race in Colorado this Spring!
